Canal

Canal is an audiowalk that guides listeners along Montréal’s Lachine Canal from the Atwater Market to the Saint Gabriel Lock. Over the course of the hour-long tour, memories of residents and workers from the area guide the listener through history. The sounds of the industrial era are recreated as the stories of the transformation of the neighborhood are told by local voices. Download the audio and accompanying book here.

This interactive documentary recounts the individual experiences of an expropriation that removed seven communities from their land in New Brunswick to make way for a National Park. From a mobile device, visitors uncover the communities that existed years ago.

Montréal’s Rwandan community meets in April each year to commemorate the hundreds of thousands of men, women and children murdered during the 1994 genocide. This audio-guided tour follows the route of the commemorative walk from Berri-UQAM Metro to the Sailors’ Memorial Tower on the St. Lawrence River in the Vieux Port of Montréal. You are guided through the streets to the river by the voices of Rwandan Montréalers who share their stories with you. Instructions for downloading the audio and map. (french only)
